It is hard to believe that it was just over a year ago in fleshling time, that I began this amazing journey. I was young, naive and inexperienced. Accepting this challenge eagerly, I had no inkling what it would entail.  The lessons that I have learned are overwhelming.

  There was no way Kinstep could have prepared me for what I would witness on Earth.  What a magnificent place. Its ever changing, constant beauty was hypnotic. And, as lovely as the planet was, it was no comparison to the splendor of its inhabitants.

  I discovered, sometimes the difficult way that fleshling life is not always as easy and carefree as it appears. The torture that some of my hosts endured was excruciating at times. Their suffering will linger with me, forever. Their memories are now mine as well; we shared it all, the good and the bad. My information bank overflows with fear and pain, but also with love.

The feeling of a gentle touch from someone who truly loves you is unparalleled. I was not prepared for the emotions that would come with love. The warmth of the flesh, a soft kiss, the silent linking of intertwined souls. Those are the acts that separate us from the humans. The feeling of connection to another being was able to alter lives. Love, and only love, made the pain tolerable. 

It is time now for my embodiment. I will miss my home. But, I am confident that I will acquire many new fleshling friends here. I will learn infinite valuable lessons on Earth. The humans have so much to teach us. And, I am immensely optimistic that I shall educate them as well.

My mentor, Kinstep, has been an inspiration, and told me, “This is a great honor to have been chosen for this mission, my friend.”

Hesitantly, I replied, “I do feel honored, and nervous.”

He encouraged me, “You have spent an extensive period of time on Earth and experienced many things already. You will no longer be a bystander. Now, you will take a lead role and become one of them. This will be your very own flesh, yours to embody for every breath that it takes.”

I paused, deep in thought. “I will miss you, Kinstep.”

“I shall be right here waiting for you, my friend. You will learn things you have never imagined on this mission. And when you return, we will have much to talk about. You will then become a teacher. You will help us train others to embody and continue advancing our kind.”

  “You have been carefully selected for this great honor. I have total confidence in you and know that you will be fine. We will meet again before you know it, Notlad. The human life span is but a blink of an eye.”

  “When will my fleshling be ready for me?”

  “She is waiting for you now. Go, my friend and return with the wisdom of a seasoned veteran.”
